Materials:  We used LePlume II Markers in colors #11 - lt. green and #98 - dark green, but any markers will work as long as the light green has a large tip and the dark green has a skinny tip. 

Directions: 
We recommend trying this on scrap paper a few times before your actual item... 

Step 1:  Decide where you are going to put your pine boughs and using the thick end of your light green marker, draw the "trunk" in straight lines. 

Step 2:  Pointing away from your center point, draw branches coming off of your trunk. 

Step 3:  In illustration 3a we show you the next step which is drawing needles on each of your branches.  Your needles should point in the same direction as your branches.  Fill each branch and add a few on the trunk until it's all thick and bushy looking (as shown in illustration 3b). 

Step 4:  Using your thin tip dark green marker, repeat steps 1-3 above and simply repeat the marks you made with your light green marker. 

You may choose to leave your pine bough or decorate with some of the following ideas... 

These two layouts are nice examples of using the pine boughs with a little embellishment.  For the example on the left, use an ordinary paper punch to add circles that look like ornaments.  You could also use shaped decorative punches (like the star at the bottom).  For the example on the right, hearts were added to the corner and the top pine bough "bar".

The snowflake above was made by cutting geometric and organic shapes out of small pieces of cool colored paper.  Cool colors are blue, green and violet.  When a bunch of shapes are cut out, glue them all to a dark piece of paper and you have a unique creation!   Just like real snowflakes, each on is symmetrical and each is different! Symmetrical means it's the both on same sides.

Can you find organic shapes?  Organic shapes are soft like those found in nature. 
Can you find geometric shapes?  Geometric shapes are regular like triangles, squares and circles.
