I make a lot of greeting cards on my computer; instead of buying the pre-creased card stock, which is very expensive, I buy Medium Cover Weight Bristol (67 lb.) and the "Invitation" size envelopes. My tip: to make the cards look "professional" I use a small plastic tool for smoothing wallpaper, to sharpen the crease after the card is folded - these tools are quite inexpensive and leave no unwanted marks.  If you "get stuck" without such a tool, the edge of a saucer will work, but it is not near as easy to handle.

Heart Amulet Purse
Here's a little heart amulet purse for you to make for Valentines Day, for a bride or just for someone you love, like yourself!

Weave the front and back separately using Flat Peyote Stitch, starting at the green arrow. Stitch the pieces together and add lots of fringe. This design is very large to make it easier for you to see.  If you have trouble printing just hold your mouse on the pattern, choose "save this file" from the prompt box, save and print.

The photo to the right is from Charlene Hughes of Renton, WA.  Isn't it pretty?  Thank you Charlene for letting Etcetera use your photo!

Etcetera would like to thank Suzanne Cooper for allowing her delightful pattern to be reproduced here!

Spongy Valentine Cards! Part 2  Okay, so last issue, you did some fun spongy stamping right?  Now it's time to jazz up and make those cards even more special!

Materials:
    Crayons and Markers
Ribbon, Buttons, Beads, and anything from around the house!
    Glue
    Scissors

Idea 1:  The first card picture you see to the left was made much more jazzy...we added some scraps of ribbon and a few buttons!  Look around the house and ask what small little things you can use to glue to your cards!  Candy that is wrapped (like peppermints or chocolate kisses) could be glued onto your cards too!  YUM!

Idea 2:  Using markers or crayons, add some pattern!  Pattern is when colors and shapes repeat themselves over and over.  In our second example, we used simple little purple pokka dots or circles, but you could really make some wild patterns using different colors and shapes!

Idea 3:  Not only can you use shapes to make pattern, but lines can make wonderful patterns too!  Again, we made a very simple pattern using a scalloped or wavy line, but you could make stripes with different colors, zig zag lines, dashed lines...whatever your imagination comes up with!

Finishing your cards:
When your decorating or embellishment is done, you need to decide who gets which card!  Use matching colored markers or crayons to write the "To:" and "From:" on the back!
