Sierra Link Necklace
Elegant and ready to be worn with any open neck shirt, this beautiful necklace is quite a stunner. Pieces of our vintage chain are linked together to create a beautiful pattern that is highlighted with blue zircon Swarovski crystals and cream tear drop pearls. If you don't like the blue zircon, choose from many other colors of Swarovski crystals in 5mm.

Tools you will need (change quantity to 1 if you need them):

Directions:
Step 1. Onto each of 9 Head Pins, place a Pearl and a Crystal.

Step 2. Using a Side Cutter cut off the excess of each Head Pin leaving approximately 3/16". For each Head Pin, using Flat Nose Pliers, bend the 3/16" piece of wire 90°. Using Round Nose Pliers, bend the 3/16" piece of wire from each Head Pin into a loop and close tightly. Set aside.

Step 3. Cut a piece of Chain that measures 16 ½ inches.

Step 4. Twist open a Jump Ring and insert the loop of a Lobster Clasp and the last link on the piece of Chain that you just cut. Twist the Jump Ring closed.

Step 5. Twist open another Jump Ring and insert it onto the first link (on the opposite side) of the piece of Chain. Twist the Jump Ring closed.

Step 6. Cut 2 pieces of Chain that both contain 28 links. We will call these pieces Chain A#1 and Chain A#2.

Step 7. Cut another 4 pieces of Chain to each contain 29 links. We will call these pieces Chain B#1, Chain B#2, Chain B#3, and Chain B#4.

Step 8. Count down to the 54th link on your 16 ½ foot section of Chain. Take Chain A#1 and twist open the end link. Insert the open link onto the 54th link of your length of Chain. Twist the link closed tightly.

Step 9. Twist open the link at the opposite end of Chain A#1 and place it into the end link of Chain A#2. Twist the open link closed.

Step 10. Count down 20 more links on your 16 ½ inch length of Chain, to the 74th link. Twist open the link on the end of Chain A#2 (that has Chain A#1 hanging from it), insert the loop of a Head Pin onto the open link, then insert the open link onto the 74th link of Chain. Twist the open link closed.

Step 11. Twist open the link at the opposite end of Chain A#2 and insert the link at the end if Chain B#1. Twist the open link closed.

Step 12. Twist open the link on the end of Chain B#1 (that Chain A#2 is hanging from), insert the loop of a Head Pin, then insert it onto the 94th link (20 more links down from the last piece of Chain you attached). Twist the open link closed.

Step 13. Count down 20 more links to the 114th link. Twist open the link at the opposite end of Chain B#1 and insert it onto the 114th link. Twist the open link closed.

Step 14. Now we will be moving down to the next tier of the necklace. Go back to the first small section of Chain that you attached, Chain A#1. Count to the 15th link of Chain A#1. Twist open the end link of Chain B#2 and insert it onto the 15th link in the middle of Chain A#1. Twist the open link closed.

Step 15. Count down to the 15th link on Chain A#2. Twist open the 15th link in the middle of Chain A#2 and insert the link at the opposite end of Chain B#2, the loop of a Head Pin, and the link on the end of Chain B#3. Twist the open link closed.

Step 16. Twist open the link on the opposite (hanging) end of Chain B#3 and insert it onto the 15th link in the middle of Chain B#1. Twist the open link closed.

Step 17. Now for the last tier. Twist open the link on the end of Chain B#4, place the loop of a Head Pin onto it, and insert it onto the 15th link in the middle of Chain B#2. Twist the open link closed.

Step 18. Twist open the link at the opposite (hanging) end of Chain B#4, insert the loop of a Head Pin onto it, and insert it onto the 15th link in the middle of Chain B#3. Twist the open link closed.

Step 19. Now all you have to do is attach the rest of your drops. Count down to the 15th link, in the middle of Chain B#4. Twist the link open and insert the loop of a Head Pin. Twist the link closed.

Step 20. Go back up to the original 16 ½ inch length of Chain that you began working with. The first links that you attached together were on the 54th link of this length of Chain. Count over to the 63rd link, twist open the loop of a Head Pin and insert it onto the 63rd link. Twist the loop of the Head Pin closed.

Step 21. Repeat Step 20 on the 84th link of the Chain.

Step 22. Repeat Step 20, with you last Head Pin, on the 105th link of the Chain. Enjoy!
