Melon Berry Vintage Necklace
The finished length of this necklace is approximately 18 inches. You will have just enough 8/0 Melon Berry Seed Beads to complete the necklace, if the directions are followed properly. If you need to make the necklace longer, you will have leftover 11/0 Root Beer Seed Beads to add to the ends of your strands, if desired.

Directions:
Step 1. Twist open a Jump Ring and, onto it, place the Leaf Pendant, the Heart Locket Charm, the Key Charm, and then an 8/0 Seed Bead. Twist the Jump Ring closed.

Step 2. Position the Heart Locket Charm and the Key Charm onto your Leaf Pendant as desired (see picture). Using small dabs of Zap-a-Gap (or your own glue), glue the Charms into place on the Leaf Pendant and let dry.

Step 3. Cut 4 strands of Soft Flex, each approximately 22 inches long.

Step 4. Thread the strands of Soft Flex through the Jump Ring, which contains your Pendant, positioning the Pendant in the middle.

Step 5. Onto the first strand, string approximately 8 inches of Root Beer Seed Beads to the left of the Pendant. Then, string approximately 8 inches of Root Beer Seed Beads to the right of the Pendant.

Step 6. Onto your second strand, repeat Step 5 using 8/0 Melon Berry Seed Beads.

Step 7. Onto your third strand, string the following to the left of the Pendant:
8 Melon Berry Seed Beads
1 Bead Cap
1 Pearl
1 Bead Cap

Step 8. String the following onto your third strand:
15 Melon Berry Seed Beads
1 Bead Cap
1 Pearl
1 Bead Cap

Step 9. Repeat Step 8 three times.

Step 10. String 10 Melon Berry Seed Beads.

Step 11. Repeat Step 7 to the right of the Pendant.

Step 12. Repeat Step 8 four times.

Step 13. String 10 Melon Berry Seed Beads.

Step 14. Onto your fourth strand, to the left of the Pendant, string 5 Root Beer Seed Beads, 1 Melon Berry Seed Bead, 5 Root Beer Seed Beads, and 1 Melon Berry Seed Bead. Continue this pattern until you have strung approximately 8 inches of Seed Beads to the left of the Pendant.

Step 15. Continue the same pattern to the right of the Pendant for approximately 8 inches.

Step 16. Using Side Cutters, cut the “head” off a Head Pin. You will be making somewhat of a wrapped loop where the “head” was, but the wire really only has to wrap around once (you will not even see it because it will be hidden by the Cones). Use the following guidelines to make your loop:

Take the Head Pin and grasp it with Round Nose Pliers about ¼ inch down from the top of the Pin. Bend the Pin toward you at just about a 90-degree angle. Grab the excess wire of the Pin with your fingers, while still holding it in the same position with the Round Nose Pliers, and bring it around the one side of the Pliers in the opposite direction that you just bent the Pin. You will bring the wire completely around the one half of the Pliers so that a loop will be formed. Now you are going to grasp the loop with the Pliers, so that the loop lays flat inside the Nose of the Pliers (in other words, do not grasp the loop in the way that it will crush). Grab the excess wire with your fingers and gently, but firmly, wrap it around the base of the loop as desired. Be sure to leave the Pin long enough to come up through the Cone. Either trim excess Wire or flatten excess Wire up against the Pin.

Step 17. Repeat Step 16 with another Head Pin.

Step 18. Grasp all four strands together and string them through a Crimp Bead, through the loop you made on of one of your Head Pins, and back down through the Crimp Bead. Crush the Crimp and trim the excess Soft Flex.

Step 19. Repeat Step 18 on the other side of the necklace with the loop you made on the other Head Pin.

Step 20. Thread one of the Head Pins through one of the Cones (in through the thicker part of the Cone and up and out through where the Cone gets thinner).

Step 21. Place an 8/0 Seed Bead and a Pearl onto the Head Pin.

Step 22. Make a loop with this end of the Head Pin, just as you did in Step 16; however, before closing the loop, insert the loop of a Lobster Clasp onto the Wire. Close the loop tightly, wrapping the wire if desired.

Step 23. Repeat Step 20 and 21 on the opposite side of the necklace, with your other Head Pin and your other Cone.

Step 24. Repeat Step 22, inserting a Jump Ring onto the Wire of the Head Pin (rather than a Lobster Clasp). Enjoy!
