Directions:
Put on a headpin: 1-2mm ss round, 1 butterfly bead (head up), 1-2mm
ss round. Leave 3/16" of pin, and make
a loop with round nose pliers. Make 3 and attach one to the other
with separate jump rings forming a cluster.
Open both packages of silk and unwind. Mark one wire needle close
to and including the silk where it meets the needle with Hypo
Cement. Tie both ends of the silk together and pass both needles
together through the inside of a bead tip. Dab the knot with glue
or clear nail polish, trim the thread tails, and close the cup of the bead
tip with pliers.
The marked needle will always pick up the same number of beads.
13 seed beads, 1-3mm ss round, 1 butterfly bead (head first), 1-3mm ss
round.
The un-marked needle picks up 13 seed beads, and passes through the
ss round, the butterfly, and the ss round.
Do the marked needle sequence. The unmarked needle picks up 14
seed beads before passing through the ss round, the butterfly, and the
ss round.
Do the marked needle sequence. The unmarked needle picks up 15
seed beads before passing through the ss round, the butterfly, and the
ss round.
Do the marked needle sequence. The unmarked needle picks up 16
seed beads before passing through the ss round, the butterfly, and the
ss round.
Continue in this fashion with both marked and unmarked needles until
you are picking up 21 seed beads with the unmarked needle. String
the cluster before passing through the ss round, the butterfly (which goes
head down from now on) and the ss round.
The unmarked
needle begins to decrease by 1 seed bead in each sequence until both needles
pick up 13 seed beads. Pass both needles through a bead tip, from
the outside to the inside. Cut both pieces of silk, leaving about
a 2 inch tail. This will make it easier to work with. Make
sure your work is snug, with no silk showing in any of the sequences.
Tie the tails with a square knot pulling the knot all the way into the
bead tip. Dab the knot with Hypo Cement, trim the thread tails, and close
the cup of the bead tip with pliers.
Attach each piece of the toggle clasp to a separate jump ring before
closing the loop of the bead tip around the jump ring,
Finished length is about 21 inches long. Shorten by eliminating
the first and last sequence. Enjoy!!! |
